Makadii A-Stackers!
In my little note today I would like to express gratitude to you all for helping us build this little dream we had. Over 400 of you have subscribed, 100+ of you have submitted your publications to A-List and we have had over 10 submissions to A-Prompt.
We are eternally grateful to you for validating our dream. Thank you!
We are working behind the scenes to make this space bigger and better for you. Please hang tight.
What are you holding space for? When you deep that question you realise that life in general, is about holding space for things, people, emotions, dreams and more. Our being carries so much. My words are all over the place but
sums it up so well in this piece.Trigger Warning: SA & Suicide Ideation
swims in the deep end of self-sabotage in this piece she titled, Unworthiness As The Hitchhiker We Never Invited. When she said, “How often do we carry this internalized sense of rejection so deeply that we discount ourselves before anyone else can?” my brain dug into history and I realised it may have been a minute ago that I discounted myself. #sighI have never nodded my head as much as I did reading this article. Culturally, women were given the less strenuous tasks, when they were on their period they were asked to stay in their huts and rest. When they gave birth, everyone came around to help so that they could rest. In today’s world we are expected to forever be on the move, to work harder than men and be better at everything. Who set that standard?
gives insight on this.I found this piece to be interesting. I had no idea there were people arguing that Feminism and Christianity do not mix. Here is
’s take. What’s your take?I know we are all taking stock of our wins right this moment. End year is notorious for dragging us into self-resentment and undoing our accomplishments.
reminds us to pay attention to the things that brought you a smile. It’s the last A-Mention of the year. If you haven’t gotten a mention, then it might be a sign you aren’t playing in the Notes as much as you should. *wink wink*
The year may be over for us but we will be lurking in the streets, looking for new ways to say HELLO in African languages. Feel free to use the comment section to help me (us).
Until next year A-Stackers, this is goodbye! Have a great Christmas, New Year, and Birthday (honestly, good luck).
