Have you been writing lately? The year-end fatigue seems to be a real thing and some Substacks have hit the snooze button in a bid to reset. If you are one of them, we aren’t judging. Writing is a big task and creativity thrives on rest. You know what we will judge you for though? Not sharing the work you already have on your publication. We (read us and other readers) want to read it!
Many writers have testified to an increase in readership, following and subscribers since they started sharing their work on Notes. I have to warn you, it’s not as easy as it sounds. It also takes engaging with other people. So, Twitter but for writers.
Just to prove our point, today’s mentions are articles we bumped into as we scrolled on Notes. Since we are generous, we decided to share. So here is the news on what African writers have been up to on here.
Radio vs Podcast? Pick very carefully, A-Stacker! Ian Okal (Substack won’t let me tag him) seems to have been watching the podcasting scene very closely. In their findings, they share about the rise of podcasting in Kenya. Turns out, it is overtaking radio. If you are Kenyan, grab a mic NOW!

fooled me and I enjoyed every minute of it. I refuse to be the only one played, so click the link! The heavens said, “My child, you will get a heartbreak story!” But before I plug you, how do you get past heartbreak? I have a hard time crying because I was teased for being too soft when I was younger. So I pretend until I break. Okay, enough about me, here is what
had to say on the subject.#sigh… The topic of beauty and its ridiculous standards always tires me. I hate that we continuously have to remind ourselves that we are perfect just as we are. I don’t have the words for this but
put it perfectly in this letter.Okay, that’s all the plugging for today. Phew! Please come back and tell us which of our top 5 reads for the week made your day. Until next Thursday, bye! (keep scrolling please)
